Artist Manager / Executive Producer
Sharon Zhu was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She completed her BA in Music at the University of Newcastle and was awarded a full scholarship for doctoral studies in Composition at Princeton University.
Sharon served as Senior Promotion Executive at Boosey & Hawkes Music Publishers in London, where she worked with leading contemporary composers including John Adams, Unsuk Chin, HK Gruber, and Qigang Chen, and managed the legacy catalogues of Britten, Bernstein, and Stravinsky. She continues to advise Boosey & Hawkes as Senior Consultant for Asia.
From 2015 to 2020, she founded and directed House of Egorn, a contemporary art gallery in Berlin, presenting nearly 30 exhibitions across two spaces in the city and at satellite locations in London. The gallery worked with artists from five continents and participated in major European art fairs, collaborating with curators including Hans Ulrich Obrist (Serpentine Gallery), Fatos Ustek (Liverpool Biennial), Kiki Mazzuchelli (São Paulo Biennial), and Victor Wang (M Woods Museum, Beijing).
Sharon currently works as Executive Producer for director Simon McBurney's opera and concert projects, and represents a select roster of creative artists as manager and producer across opera, theatre, music, and dance. She has also served as Trustee of London's Little Angel Theatre and Aurora Orchestra.
